Trastevere as seen by Tripadvisor's user Trastevere feels more like a small Italian town rather than part of a capital city. We did not know really where to go, so we just wondered through the small streets which are lined with restaurants and café bars spilling out on to the street. There are not so many tourists here in my view which was nice. Before my trip, I'd fantasized about sitting in a romantic candlelit trattoria while a three-piece band serenaded me. That's exactly what I got for my birthday. The restaurants in the area are cozy, charming, and most of all - authentic! Trastevere is warm and inviting, and you feel like you are more a part of Rome.
